The wonderful world of lichens
Sourced from wild harvested lichen, the plant-based vitamin D in this formula is in the natural form (cholecalciferol) and is better absorbed and utilized by the body. The lichen vitamin D3 is harvested and extracted in a sustainable manner and carefully processed to ensure optimum purity and stability. Lichens are small, unique composite organisms formed by a symbiotic and closely interacting relationship between fungi and algae. This gives them unique attributes such as surviving in extreme climates and having the ability to grow and accumulate meaningful levels of useful nutrients, including vitamin D3. To look at, lichens are like moss or small plants and can be found all over the world including extreme environments such as the Arctic and deserts.
At Natural Factors state of the art laboratories, we use “mass spectrometry” to test for over 400 substances. Mass spectrometry can test at the molecular – even atomic – level, detecting environmental pollutants such as pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, as well as heavy metals and other undesirable substances.
