What is the benefit of alginic acid?
When alginic acid comes into contact with gastric acids, alginic acid forms a gel shown to relieve gastric discomfort in clinical studies.
Why did we add potassium bicarbonate?
When combined with alginic acid, potassium bicarbonate forms a temporary foam barrier between the stomach and the esophagus.

Raft-forming alginate
When alginic acid and potassium bicarbonate in Esophageal Guardian come into contact with gastric acids, alginic acid forms a gel, and potassium bicarbonate produces bubbles, which are then trapped in that gel. This protective, temporary foam barrier (or raft) between the stomach and the esophagus. This helps protect your esophageal tissue from harsh stomach acids: alginate-raft formulations have been shown to relieve gastric discomfort in clinical studies.
Maximum support for delicate esophageal tissues
This formula contains calcium and magnesium carbonate to provide maximum support for esophageal comfort. Plus, Esophageal Guardian also features pomegranate and strawberry extracts to combat oxidative stress, provide gastro-protective benefits and help encourage a healthy inflammatory response. In a preclinical study, strawberry extract encouraged stomach tissue health by inhibiting oxidative stress and gastric lipid oxidation.
